Once you get into the mind set of being just one character in a play out of a bazillion, you are screwed. I did this for most of my life. For most of my life, I was that science geek. Now, I still think of myself as geeky but also think of myself as a poet. Another fallacy. Each role limits me. I think it is best to think of oneself as a rainbow of characters.
If you live your life in one frame you will never get to make a movie of your life. You need to step out of one role, one mind, one character thinking and embrace multiplicity of characters and lifetimes in one life cycle. And the focus of the life cycle should be entirely on the lessons.
What are the lessons of this stage of your life? What have you done or not done and wish you could do? What are you doing next? How are you going to grow?
The main thing is not be a bit of a twig in a desert and refuse to grow. Always, always be vulnerable emotionally, open to the world and a friend to everyone. There is a great capacity for love in all of us and we do not extend this loving to the other. I don't know why. Cultural thing? Perhaps. Or simple laziness, fear and indifference.
The purpose of our lives: to be all the people we are meant to be. To be mother, child, poet, singer, dancer, worker, middle age woman, aging nanny and surely to god. going through all these transitions makes you what you are meant to be in this world - a scholar of life. Not one mind, many minds.
